Sorry if I sound a little redundant in this post, but my big takeaway from the week was not assuming that students will know how to use technology appropriately for academic purposes.  I'm a young teacher and I create a lot of content for my classroom using technology (video recordings, collaborative digital notebooks, etc.), but I never really paused to think about explicitly teaching students how to use these resources.  I usually just say something like, "it's all on the class website," when I'm telling students where to find resources.  I never really talk about how to use the resources there.  I thought I had just a great idea for my lesson plan to have students create their own video tutorial, but then I realized that I would have to do some specific instruction on how to use that technology.  Good lesson learned this week.

Thanks,

Jessica
